The BBPA British Beer & Pub Association claim to be the leading trade organisation with a passion for beer representing Breweries and 20,000 pubs
The reality is, the BBPA represent the self interest of the giant Brewers and large Pub Co’s with multiple outlets.
The BBPA do not represent and are not motivated to achieve a fair deal for the other 20,000 independent licensed trade outlets.
As an example the largest selling lager in the UK is Carling Lager brewed by Molson Coors this is often available in Supermarkets as cheap as .73 a pint the equivalent of £63.00 barrel.
Phil Whitehead, managing director of Molson Coors Western Europe who produce Carling Lager is chairman of the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA)The BBPA claim to be passionate about delivering tangible change and benefits for their members to ensure a thriving pub and brewing sector in the UK.
This claim is nonsense whilst they open market their products to Supermarkets at less than half the price they sell the same products to independent pubs.
BBPA are a self interested voice of major brewers and not the 20,000 or so independent pubs, bars and clubs etc that also buy immense quantities of their products.
The IPA Independent Pub Association represents the smaller outlets fighting for a fair deal.
The goal of IPA is to level up the playing field of cost between supermarkets and independent pubs and reduce the cost price per barrel which we will pass on to our members.
